Snowboard parks in the city? Cheap and awesome? The whole family can go for under $40? Sounds like a dream right? Well, wake up! The dream is here and the future is now, ride where you reside! Lib Tech and Gnu are the proud exclusive hardgoods partner of Gateway Parks, a group of snowboarders whose goal is to build a snowboard park in every city in America that the temperature will allow. In January, the Mervin crew descended upon Gateway’s flagship park, Hawk Island in Lansing, Michigan. What they discovered was a ripping good time in an amazing snowboard progression vacuum! Weird and Bitchin’ indeed!
This weekend there's a cornucopia of goings-ons happening on the East Coast. The normally icy slopes of Sunday River and Loon are now less icy from the past weeks of falling white stuff. Perfect conditions for the 2nd Annual The Mike Baker Banked Slalom, Lib Tech's Near Canada Open, Waterville Valley's Back to the Boneyard and Eastern Boarder's Loon Last Call.
With memories from last year's Scorpion Bowls still fresh in our minds, Think Thank contingencies from both the Almanac and Right Turn Left Turn videos will be at as many or all the events this weekend. Ted Borland, especially since he's on the Near Canada Open poster. Don't be surprised if you also see Jesse Burtner, Sean Genovese, Brandon Reis, Sam Hulbert, Max Warbington and Chris Larson.
Here's the line-up of events:
Friday, March 14th: 2nd Annual Mike Baker Banked Slalom @ Ragged Mountain, NH
Saturday, March 15th: Near Canada Open @ Sunday River, Maine
Sunday, March 16th: Back to the Boneyard @ Waterville Valley, NH
